The travel journal of David and Robík

Places with
a soul.

A selection of journeys, hotels and flavours worth leaving the main road for.

Our compass

We are not a catalogue.
We remember how places felt.

The scent of morning coffee, light in a hotel corridor, the hush before breakfast and a road that may have been more beautiful than the destination. Dobrý směr is our personal selection — no racing, no compulsory sights simply because the internet says so.

Places are more than addresses

Four landscapes.
Four little worlds.

We group places by region — because Bolzano without the Dolomites, Follonico without Tuscany, Čeladná without the Beskydy or Le Rossignol without the three-border region only tell half the story.

Palms, Merano and the South Tyrolean mountains01

Bolzano · Merano · Avelengo

South Tyrol

A place where Alpine peaks look down into palm trees. City gardens, mountain hotels, wine, bicycles and espresso in one unexpectedly southern rhythm.

Rolling hills and cypress trees in Tuscany02

Follonico · Montepulciano · Argentario

Tuscany

Hills, long tables and roads on which there is no reason to hurry. Our Tuscany begins with Fabio’s bread and does not end until it reaches the sea.

Mezi Lukami house with the Beskydy mountains behind it03

Čeladná · Pustevny · mountain meadows

The Beskydy

A Czech haven for architecture, food, golf and cycling. Stone, timber, mountains and dinners worth returning from a walk on time for.

Markgräflerland vineyards looking towards the Vosges04

Blansingen · Basel · Alsace

Three Borders

German vineyards, French pâtisseries and Swiss art in a single stay. A landscape best explored by bicycle — then tasted from a glass beside the pool.

The exact addresses

Hotels and homes
where we would linger.

From a grand hotel beneath palms to a home among vineyards and a stone cottage in the Beskydy. These are the actual beds, tables and people.

The flavour of a journey

Food worth rearranging the day for.

Breakfast with fresh bread, a long lunch among vineyards, a grand dinner or a drink beneath the palms. Food is never a footnote here — it is often the reason we return.

Who holds the compass

David & Robík.
Two people, one good direction.

We travel the way we like to live: by car, train, bicycle and slowly on foot. We look for small hotels, views, wonderful food and places that never show off — yet stay impossible to forget.
