Mezi Plůtky is not a hotel made smaller. It is a large house for very few people — and that distinction matters.
Your room, bathroom and silence are there whenever you need them. So are a shared table, kitchen, sitting room and a fire around which guests and hosts meet naturally. Nothing is organised on command. One evening you simply notice that you are pouring another glass with people you did not know that morning, listening to Petr tell a story from his travels.
Two centuries in one house
A restoration that never shouted over the past.
The house was built roughly two hundred years ago for the managers of the Podolanská ironworks. Between 2015 and 2017 Daniela and Petr Hradil restored it so sensitively that old and new need no labels — they simply speak to each other.
Vaults, original beams and a cellar paved with river stones survived. Hand-split spruce shingles returned to the roof, local plants to the garden and the remains of an old water reservoir became a natural swimming pond. A historic barn now holds the luminous winter garden; a new barn was made with traditional methods as its quiet contemporary sister.

The rooms carry family roles rather than numbers. Each is different, yet all share white calm, original timber, stone and bathrooms too beautiful to hide behind hotel practicality.

A garden instead of a wellness menu
A natural pool that includes the sky.
In summer, the finest route from your room is a short walk across the grass. The natural swimming pond occupies an old water reservoir and never feels like a hotel pool dropped into the landscape. It belongs to the garden — reeds, mountain reflections and water that refreshes exactly as it should. In colder weather it remains a view while the fire takes back the leading role.
Petr's table
He does not cook hotel half-board. He cooks dinner.
Dinner follows the season, the ingredients and the mood. Petr brought memories from his travels — especially the Mediterranean — into the kitchen, then rooted them in the Beskydy with proper sauces, good wine and no need to impress through complication.
We remember steak sliced straight on the board, truffle pasta and a whole roast poussin. Best of all is the moment Petr puts dinner down and a hotel meal turns into a shared evening.
When you feel like going further

Miura sits at the opposite end of the hotel spectrum from Mezi Plůtky — bold contemporary architecture, art and a sense of theatre. That contrast is exactly why we enjoy it as an outing. The surroundings on two wheels

Podolánky makes a beautiful start and finish. The climbs can be honest, but the reward is a view towards Lysá hora, empty mountain roads and coffee with cake somewhere along the way. Our photographs come from a winter ride, so always check weather and trail conditions before setting off.
