We do not return to Garda because we know it. We return because each visit reveals how little we know.
The lake changes mood with almost every bend. At Riva del Garda and Torbole, water narrows between rock and everything invites movement. In the south, the horizon opens, hills soften and promenades, thermal baths and long evenings take over. The western shore smells of citrus and elegant gardens; the eastern shore rises towards Monte Baldo. Among all of this, we have repeatedly chosen Arco and VIVERE — not as a hotel that keeps us inside, but as a beautiful, quiet place to return to.
Agriturismo, reimagined
A contemporary house that does not try to overpower its vineyard.
The idea for VIVERE dates to 2004, when Michela imagined a new kind of agriturismo: not a rustic stage set, but clean contemporary architecture placed directly inside the family’s agricultural landscape. From above, the house does not blanket its surroundings — gardens, private courtyards and vines flow around it.
Inside, timber, concrete, glass and muted natural tones set the rhythm. Outside, every suite has its own enclosed garden, some opening directly towards the pool or vineyard. Privacy comes from an intelligent plan rather than shut doors. When you want company, there is the veranda, living room and honesty bar.

Our VIVERE rhythm
Breakfast on the veranda. Bicycle. Water. Wine.
Morning begins with a generous breakfast of local produce and whatever is growing in the garden. Then take one of the city bicycles and ride the flat route towards the lake — or let the Sarca cycle path pull you further. On returning, the pool has exactly the right temperature and powers of persuasion. In the evening, open the honesty bar, choose a bottle and decide whether you need a restaurant at all.
Bicycles, breakfast, parking and small daytime treats are generally included. Always confirm the current services and pool season when booking.
Michela and family
Hospitality that begins in the land around the house.
VIVERE carries Michela Pederzolli’s name and the imprint of the family farm. Olive oil is its pride, joined by their own Merlot and honey. These are not decorative products in a hotel shop; they continue the vineyard, garden and work you see from your room.
Michela is close at hand for restaurants, sport, excursions or transport, yet the house does not pretend to have a conventional front desk. That suits us: care is personal rather than omnipresent. If you wish to stay within the family for dinner, Pizzeria Centrale is only a few hundred metres away.

Six suites, no hotel corridor
Your own entrance, your own garden and precisely as much privacy as you want.
Four large suites include kitchenettes; two junior suites are more compact. All share what matters: a king-size bed, private outdoor space and a relationship with the garden rather than a corridor view.

Every unit has a private enclosed garden, while roughly eight thousand square metres of vineyard and greenery surround the property. Morning and evening are lived mostly outside.

Four faces of Garda for one long stay.
Do not try to drive the whole lake in a day. Garda is not a loop to tick off. Choose one shore, one pace and leave yourself a reason to return.

North
Rock, wind, sails and sporting energy. Arco adds its castle and climbing culture, Riva a little urban elegance and Torbole water almost within reach of the table. This is our natural base.
Malcesine · Monte Baldo
East
Medieval lanes, a castle above the water and a cable car that exchanges the lake for mountain meadows in minutes. Book ahead in summer and choose bike descents strictly to match skill, equipment and experience.
Sirmione · Desenzano
South
The lake spreads, the landscape softens and thermal baths, promenades and evening aperitivo enter the plan. Sirmione is loveliest early in the morning or after day visitors depart.
Salò · Gardone · Limone
West
Elegant promenades, gardens, citrus and long views over the water. This is where we experienced Lido 84 and where Garda feels at its most Mediterranean.
Gelato beside the harbour is a complete itinerary stop. We do not vote on this.
A good direction by bicycle
From the flat Sarca path to legendary Ponale.
VIVERE lends city bicycles free of charge and the lake is roughly twenty flat minutes away. That is the perfect start. Once you head higher, exchange the city bike for an e-bike, gravel or mountain bike. Northern Garda is a cycling paradise, but it is also real mountain country — bicycle type and difficulty are not details here.

Arco, Sarca, Riva & Torbole
Shape a flat loop from cycle paths and minor roads. It suits the city bicycles, can be shortened whenever you like and its finest aid station is called gelato.
Moderate · e-bike / MTB
Ponale & Lake Ledro
The old road carved into the cliff offers one of Garda’s iconic views. Parts are unpaved and the route climbs; check current conditions and use a suitable bicycle.
Technical · plan carefully
Monte Baldo
A cable-car ascent and mountain descent are not a leisure promenade. Choose a marked route for your experience, reserve bicycle transport and use a local guide if unsure.
Garda on the table
One great memory. Several current addresses.
Lido 84 remains one of our great Garda food memories. Riccardo and Giancarlo Camanini joined precision, ideas and joy so that dinner never became a display of technique but a genuine experience. An important current note: final service was on 22 March 2026 and the restaurant is now closed. We keep it here as a tribute to somewhere we were lucky to experience — not as a place to book.
For dinner now, choose according to the shore: Al Volt in Riva for regional classics, La Terrazza in Torbole for lake fish, Aqua for a contemporary evening over the water and Tancredi in Sirmione for an occasion in the south. Always confirm current menus, opening days and guide distinctions when booking.

VIVERE is our northern base. When we want to try the lake’s southern face, AQVA is calling: a small adults-only design hotel with eighteen rooms, a garden by the water and a position within walking distance of the castle and thermal centre. We are not recommending it from experience yet — our stay is still ahead. These are precisely the bookmarks we also want to share on Dobrý směr.

The Good Direction verdict
A place that does not overshadow Garda. It helps you see it.
We do not love VIVERE as a resort intended to replace the world around it. We love it as the beautiful counterpoint to exploring: a quiet garden after wind on the lake, a pool after cycling the hills and a glass of wine after a day in which Garda showed three different faces. That is why we return — not because we have finished, but because there is always another good direction.
